ABOUT US

Crone Chronicles, now an evolving e-zine, formerly a printed quarterly, is by and for those who wish to move through the aging process in a conscious manner. "Crone" is identified as the third aspect of the ancient Triple Goddess: Maiden/Mother/Crone. Crone symbolizes the wisdom present in a woman of any age, but which usually becomes stronger as she grows older.

The patriarchal culture's valuation of the female is based on the youthful beauty of her bodily appearance, her "image." By this measure, the older a woman becomes, the less she is valued. Rather than accepting our culture's devaluation of women as they age, Crone Chronicles was founded to transform our way of understanding the aging process altogether.

To understand the Crone stage of life consciously is to look beyond appearances to reality, the reality of a long full life, through which much learning has been gleaned. To evaluate the Crone stage of life consciously is to see this phase as the crowning glory, the time when a woman enters into her full maturity, inside and out. By this new (and very ancient) measure, the Crone is the most revered stage of life, rather than the least; she is the most honored, not the most ignored. Distilling wisdom from experience, her words, attitudes and actions can now serve as examples to others.

Changes have been afoot with the magazine........

Founder & Former Editor and Publisher

Ann Kreilkamp, founder and former co-publisher and editor along with her husband Jeffrey Joel, former co-publisher, have moved on to another phase of their life. They are no longer in Wyoming, but in Michigan. Jeffrey to go to law school and Ann to work on Celestial Navigations and also to promote the biography she has written about Dr. Pauline E.Thompson, the San Francisco 95-year-old Jungian and political activist. (Dr. Thompson was one of the last feature articles in the published version of Crone Chronicles, Autumn Equinox 2000 No. 44.) Ann and Jeff we thank you for all of your years of devotion and creating such a quality magazine and getting it on-line.

Editor & Publisher

Let me introduce myself. I am Glenda Martin, and have worked with Ann and Jeff since 1993, after attending the first Crone's Counsel in Jackson, Wyoming. Being with such an amazing group of women at the first Counsel gave me my spiritual home, and I left with an open invitation to Ann that I would do anything that I could to support and help with this magazine. As a result, I transcribed tapes (and indeed did the Dr. Thompson interview and it was amazing!); took over Raven Reviews as a book reviewer and Associate Editor, and was a Contributing Editor. In May, Ann asked if I would take over the web site, and the back issues. I agreed, and so it is now that I have become the Publisher/Editor for at least this on-line portion of the magazine, and hope to get Crone Chronicles back in print as soon as it is economically feasible. It is in the works, and I will soon be contacting people for possible inclusion of their articles, poetry or art. If you are interested, please contact me.

Having a deep love and understanding of what Crone has meant to me and the deep place it holds in my heart, my desire is to continue the dialogue that Ann began and Jeff helped her support all of these years. Who are we, who call ourselves Crones? What are our passions? What gifts do we have to give to the world that are so needed now? Let this be a place where we can share our knowledge assist others to ask questions. Let us once again meet for sharing and talk with each other. I invite you to join in the Circle and to listen, or speak as you are drawn to do. Welcome, and please join me in taking Crone Chronicles to it's next phase.
